Club NXT

Rebranding the Club Brugge Youth Academy

Made at Studio Dumbar together with the team.

As part of a larger branding exercise for Club Brugge, one of Belgium’s top football teams, Studio Dumbar created a new brand for the Youth Academy. Club Brugge brand architect Ludovic Beun laid the foundations, defining the relationship between the Club’s various teams. The new name, CLUB NXT, reflects the quality of the academy set-up and the aspirations of its young players. The new brand would communicate this attitude across a range of media encompassing a logo, clothing, merchandise, socials, photography and motion graphics.

Rebranding Club Brugge

Made at Studio Dumbar together with the team.

First and foremost, this wasn’t a radical rebrand. The Club badge was off limits – changing a historic crest when fans have it tattooed on their limbs is problematic, to say the least. The task was to look at all other aspects of the brand, introducing clarity and impact online, on social media, and in motion graphics.

The new look and feel adds a contemporary edge to the club’s branding. Arrows are used to great effect, combined with bold typography, a more stylised approach to photography, and a strong colour palette – led by the club’s traditional blue and black, with flashes of white. Motion graphics are crisp and dynamic, with snappy transitions suggesting a positive attitude. The arrows became a unifying graphic motif across the various teams in the Club Brugge family – including CLUB YLA (the women’s team) and CLUB NXT (the youth academy). rebranding the women’s soccer team at Club Brugge

Made at Studio Dumbar together with the team.

As part of a larger branding exercise for Club Brugge, one of Belgium’s top football clubs, Studio Dumbar created the brand identity for CLUB YLA – the newly renamed women’s team. Working with brand architect Ludovic Beun, stylist Kate Housh and photographer Stig de Block, we defined a look and feel with a fashion/lifestyle edge. Authenticity is achieved by using real YLA players for all photo shoots and videos. Motion graphics are characterised by snappy transitions, strong imagery and bold typography. Applied to everything from print and digital to clothing and merchandise, the overall effect is simple, distinctive, and powerful. Studio Dumbar team: Merijn van Velsen, Elvin van Dalen, Paul Kempe.

Avans+ runs a variety of post-bachelor and masters programs. The visual identity is led by the clear and powerful use of language: key words communicate strong messages in an assured, no-nonsense manner. It is a simple identity, with a relatively small number of elements ensuring familiarity, but also flexibility: bold typography, a selection of recognisable ’forms’ and a conservative but contemporary colour palette .Studio Dumbar team: Pedro Ajo, Elvin van Dalen.
